Brief Bio:

Mohammad Safayet Khan is a Senior Research Fellow and a faculty member at the BRAC Institute of Educational Development (BRAC IED). He is also a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Educational Studies and Leadership, University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Safayet's academic qualifications and research experiences span in four different continents as he obtained three master’s degrees in the field of Biological Sciences, Resource Management and Educational Assessment, Measurement and Evaluation from Bangladesh, Norway and Australia respectively as well as a certification on mathematical biology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA. He also worked as a visiting scholar for one year at the University of Aberdeen, UK. In his academic career, Safayet has been able to publish 15 articles in peer reviewed journals, six Monographs and Working Papers, two book chapters, and has been awarded with several scholarships and research grants. Safayet has supervised eight students in their master’s thesis at the Early Childhood Development program and has been instrumental in developing a short course in data driven decision making for educational program evaluation. Before, joining in academia, he successfully piloted volunteering tutoring program for the underprivileged first-generation secondary school students which has now been scaled up across Bangladesh. He is currently working on several research projects on different types of remotely delivered services for early childhood development and parental mental health and wellbeing.
